Ben Roethlisberger Out For Week 12

November 28, 2009 Leave a comment

Big Ben is out this week.

Due to headaches stemming from his concussion he received in Week 11, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not compete in Week 12‘s match-up against the Baltimore Ravens.

FOX’s Jay Glazer has reported, via Twitter, that Roethlisberger will miss this week’s action due to exercise-induced headaches, which has prompted the coaching staff to give him an extra week for recovery.

Given the effects concussions have had on other stars such as Clinton Portis and Brian Westbrook this season, the Pittsburgh management chose to be extra careful with their franchise quarterback. Read more…

Chris Cooley Head For Injured Reserve?

November 24, 2009 Leave a comment

Cooley could be done for 2009.

Washington Redskins injured tight end Chris Cooley admitted on a radio show recently that he’s likely done for the season.

Nothing is official and no reports have been made regarding his injury, but Cooley remains in a walking boot and is still more than a week away from a possible return.

Cooley apparently made comments suggesting that his season could be over, and with the Redskins playing for little else other than pride at just 3-7, it wouldn’t make much sense to rush him back this season. Read more…

Brett Favre For NFL MVP

November 24, 2009 1 comment

He's got the numbers.

If we remove all biases and opinions, I feel that we have finally come to the point in the 2009 NFL season, at least for now, that Brett Favre is without a doubt the front-runner for the MVP award.

You can hate him. You can love him. You can respect him, and you can be sick to death of hearing his name.

But one things is for certain; you can’t ignore the season he and his team are having. Read more…

Cowher to Bills?

Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini had the nerve to question whether or not several of the Detroit Lions’ players injuries were “fake” on Sunday, prompting Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz to call those claims “out of bounds”.

That’s just one of the stories floating around the NFL after Sunday’s action was over.

Here’s a look at big story-lines and injury notes with links around the web: Read more…

Packers Lose Aaron Kampman and Al Harris For Season

November 23, 2009 5 comments

Kampman is done for 2009.

Green Bay escaped with a close 30-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11, but not without some serious casualties on defense.

The Packers improving defense lost both OLB Aaron Kampman and CB Al Harris to ACL tears on Sunday, and both players are expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Both of these potentially catstrophic injuries will test the Packers new 3-4 defense, and could decimate a defense that shined in a win over the Dallas Cowboys last week. Read more…

November 22, 2009 Leave a comment

Back-up, no more.

Houston Texans Head Coach Gary Kubiak has re-named Steve Slaton as the starting running back for Monday night’s game against the Tennessee Titans, according to Nick Scurfield, via Twitter.

Slaton was benched three weeks ago after fumbling for the third time in three games, and left the Texans victory over the Buffalo Bills with just three total touches for 11 yards. Read more…

Reggie Bush Ruled Out For Week 11

November 21, 2009 Leave a comment

Bush did not travel with the team.

New Orleans Saints star running back Reggie Bush will not travel with the team to Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers, and thus has been ruled out for Week 11.

The team is likely being extra cautious with his surgically repaired knee, one that seems to flare up near the end of every season.

Bush is coming off of a sensational game in which he topped 80 yards rushing off of just five carries, while scoring two touchdowns, on on the ground, and another through the air. Read more…

Fantasy Injury Update: Anthony Gonzalez Nearing Return

November 20, 2009 1 comment

Gonzalez could be back by next week.

NFL.com’s Jason La Confora is reporting that Indianapolis Colts’ receiver Anthony Gonzalez could be nearing a return to the field.

After having surgery on his knee just three weeks ago, Gonzalez has been ruled out for Week 11′s game against the Baltimore Ravens, but has been given the green light to begin practicing with the team next week, and could see action as early as next Sunday.

The Colts have been and should continue to be extremely cautious with their young receiver, as his return is not necessarily needed with the offense operating at a high level, while two other young receivers, Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon, have performed admirably. Read more…

Fantasy Football Week 11 Quarterback Rankings

November 20, 2009 8 comments

Quinn has a nice match-up.

Thursday’s game brought us a decent performance from Chad Henne, and even Jake Delhomme dropped in some sold yardage and a score. With one game out of the way, here’s a look at where the other 30 quarterbacks rank heading into Sunday’s action.

Monitor Kyle Orton’s status leading up to game-time, and against our better judgment, play Matthew Stafford, David Garrard and Matt Cassel ahead of him (or Chris Simms): Read more…
